Did you see us on Cupcake Wars? Amy and I were on the hit show with bakers from 3 amazing bakeries. We watched the show with a bunch of our supporters at Skylight Restaurant and Bar in Blue Springs, and they really rolled out the red carpet for us. There were about 20 TVs throughout the restaurant, and they had each one tuned in to Food Network for the show. We watched the show as the crowd anxiously awaited the results. The place erupted in cheers when they found out we were safe after round 1 and laughed as I breathed a sign of relief on the show. Everyone came expecting to sample the cupcakes from the first round, our new Jasmine Tea and Raspberry Cupcake with Honey Cream Cheese Frosting. They loved the combination but were even more excited to see us competing in round 2!
In round 2 Amy and I made three different cupcakes based on three popular songs from Mary Poppins. We made Chim Chim Cheree, a chocolate cake with a cherry filling and whipped cream frosting. We also made Spoonful O Sugar, an apple cinnamon cupcake with caramel buttercream and a salted caramel drizzle. Our final cupcake was based on Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (Supercal…) it was a banana cake with a peanut butter filling. It is dipped in chocolate ganache and finished with a marshmallow frosting. We also made decoration that Florian called “cute” for each of the cupcakes. The feedback from the judges was mixed but the crowd and thought we did enough to advance. The crowd booed when they let Amy and me go before the final round. They were upset, but excited when more totes of cupcakes began appearing.
I thanked everyone for coming and supporting us. Amy and I were disappointed that we did not make it to the finals as well, but we are proud of our performance. I told them what matter the most is what our customers think of our cupcakes and asked them if they wanted to try the cupcakes from round 2. We received a lot of great reviews about all three of our round three cupcakes, it was hard for some people to even pick a favorite. We hope you enjoyed the show as well. If you missed it, Food Network will air it again tonight (Tuesday October 16) at 7PM Central.
We have the 4 cupcakes that we made on Cupcake Wars available all week at The Sweet Tooth. Come in and try them and judge them for yourself. Let us know by leaving a comment the one you like the most!

If you have not already, consider making a pledge of $5 today. It may seem like a little, but it would really go a long way in helping us reach our goal. Thanks everyone and have a sweet day!
